In June 2016, The Green Bay Packers kicked off the organization’s 11th annual Tailgate Tour. Lasting five days, the event travels across the state making unannounced appearances at local hospitals, schools, community recreations facilities, and military locations. The surprise guest list includes former players, current team members, and Packers’ president Mark Murphy.

One of the first stops the caravan made was approximately an hour’s drive from Lambeau Field at the Oshkosh YMCA. While filing out of the facility during a fire drill, kids ranging from 5 to 17 years old were surprised to be greeted by current Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Jared Abbrederis, linebackers Jayrone Elliott and Sam Barrington, and alumni Sean Jones, Robert Brooks, and LeRoy Butler. Although the secret appearance was kept under wraps, students were encouraged in advance by YMCA staff to don their favorite Green Bay Packers attire for green and gold spirit day.
